About

Wes, Airiel, and a Scottish claymore.

Meet the Woodells:

Wes and Airiel Woodell are the proud parents of three children and have been happily married since May 28 of 2005. Before saying their vows to one another, they dedicated their marriage to Christ agreeing they would serve Him for the rest of their earthly lives. Since then, Wes and Airiel have continued to do what they love - lead others to Jesus.

Wes is a graduate of Harding University’s Center for Advanced Ministry Training located in Searcy, AR. During his time in school there he and Airiel planted an evangelistic ministry known as the Church at the Underground – a group of young adults focused on community outreach that met for worship in a local coffeeshop on Sundays and in small groups throughout the week. As a result of that work, many in Searcy came to know Jesus.

Before coming to Harding, Wes and Airiel recieved their initial training in a campus ministry known as Christians In Action (CIA) in Tampa. The CIA is sponsored by the Bay Area Church of Christ, serves the University of South Florida, and is one of the most evangelistically effective campus ministries among Churches of Christ. During their time there, literally scores of people committed their lives to Christ and put Him on in baptism. The training was good!

Wes is the founder and administrative director of Campus Ministry United – an organization dedicated to enriching existing campus ministries as well as planting new ones - is a graduate student at Fuller Theological Seminary, a writer, an avid UFC fan, and an experienced public speaker having worked several years as a radio personality for rock stations in major markets.

Airiel is a full time mom, energetic soul winner, and encourager.  She also has a passion for using her gifts (song writing, singing, photography) to reach people for Christ. Together they hope to plant an active, sustainable, evangelistically effective campus ministry in San Francisco, CA, serving San Francisco State University’s 30,000+ students as well as the other 200,000+ in the bay area.

The main oversight of the Woodell’s work is provided by the Austin Avenue Church of Christ located in Brownwood, TX. They’re also supported by several other individuals and congregations including the Lake Merced Church of Christ in San Francisco, CA (the congregation serving as the headquarters for the campus ministry plant), the Downtown Church of Christ in Searcy, AR, the College Avenue Church of Christ in El Dorado, AR, the Levy Church of Christ in North Little Rock, AR, the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock, AR, the Romance Church of Christ in Romance, AR, and the West Avenue Church of Christ in Ashtabula, OH.

This Blog’s Purpose:

Since I am working on the west coast as a missionary, this blog started with the intention of being a supplement to my monthly snail-mailed newsletter to keep friends, family, supporters, and anyone else interested in the San Francisco campus ministry plant/church revitalization informed about the progress of the work. While it will still be used for that, it has grown into something a bit more.

I will still regularly post my own sermons and work updates for friends and supporters to view, but will also use this website to share other resources and to address faith-related topics that interest me.

It is my hope that what is posted here blesses your life in some small way.

Wes was my roommate while in Tampa (he had a room in my wife and my house). While I could dish dirt as a former roomie, I choose to say that both hs wife and he are some of the “happy memeories” in my Chrisitan walk, as they learned, matured, met one another, married and grew up through the only ministry I’ve ever known. May God bless their every step in this epic journey! A.P.E.X. misses thier participation… but we gladly give them up to BIGGER & BETTER works in the LORD!!!

Wes and Airiel are loved and respected deeply by this church and by the CIA Ministry. Wes clearly has a heart for God and His Will. His lovely wife Airiel was baptised in this ministry and has been responsible for many coming to Christ. She is a strong, Godly woman and will keep Wes on the straight and narrow. We love you guys!

Anyway, thanks for writing, ministering, serving and blessing. I look forward to checking back and see whats going on with the West Coast Witness.

You’ve got an interesting ministry going and I hope you bring many people into the kingdom through your work. One plants, another waters, but God gives the increase.

I see someone from your blog dropped in to visit my blog today. Thanks for visiting and I hope you something interesting. There’s quite a variety of topics from Bible reviews and politics to sermons and Bible study questions. Come again.

Just went through much of the information on your site and really enjoyed it. Happy you were able to be with family recently. I know it was good to be together. Hope the fingers are healing well. One of the little girls from our congregation had a very bad experience with a bathroom door at Mickey D’s. She required surgery! So good to hear Airiel’s voice. Will try to return the call and we do think of you guys and pray for you and the work there.
