My buddy Paul Fletcher came to visit me here in Texas earlier this week. Yesterday was spent driving to Dallas and back so he could make it to the airport to catch a flight back to San Francisco.

L to R: Caleb, Paul, Dory, & Shiloh Fletcher
Paul is a good friend of mine and one of the most Christ-like men I know. Airiel and I both have a great deal of respect for he and his wife Dory, and love their children (Caleb & Shiloh are like a niece and nephew to us).
Paul & Dory have been in San Francisco working with the Lake Merced Church for more than two years now, and are in the process of raising the rest of the money they’ll need to work full time in the ministry there. Paul has been a vocational minister since his arrival in 2006 working at both a car dealership in sales and more recently a non-denominational Christian school as a teacher.
He moved to San Francisco to be an evangelist and has done a lot of good work, but has been unable to put his full energy into ministry since his arrival. San Francisco is an extremely expensive place to live, and so far Paul has had to work a job full time just to make it. Within the past few months the school Paul is working for has fallen on hard financial times and the future is uncertain for it.
In fact, Paul’s recent paychecks have been a few days late and a few hundred dollars short! It’s very obvious something needs to be done.
His visit here to Brownwood wasn’t just a social call – he had the privilege of meeting with Austin Avenue’s domestic missions committee to give them his perspective on the past two years of work, as well as to let them know of his current situation and request help.
The meeting went well, and Paul left town yesterday very encouraged.
In addition to that, we put word out early last week to a few other contacts that $50,000 is needed to support the Fletcher family full time in San Francisco, and I got a call last night telling me $10,000 of that is already on its way.
Praise God!
Please keep our continued fundraising efforts in your prayers and on your mind.
For several years Airiel and I regularly prayed that God provide enough money for us to go to San Francisco and work full time in the ministry without having to worry at all about money. He resoundingly answered “yes” to that prayer for us, and now we’re praying the same thing for the Fletchers.
I’m confident God wants us there, and, as a result, am confident He will provide.
If you’d like to help by making an individual donation, or by committing to support the Fletchers monthly for one or two years, please email Paul at pbfletch@msn.com requesting more information.
